What $ 3.4 million is buying in real estate in France, Mexico and Spain

In this week’s look at global real estate, I dived three popular destination cities in France, Mexico and Spain to find out what $ 3.4 million is buying in each real estate market. From a romantic villa in San Miguel de Allende to a cliffside house in Jávea to a furnished apartment in the French Alps, here’s a look:

Val d’Isère, France | US $ 3.33 million

Val d’Isère, in Savoie, is considered one of the friendliest of major European resorts and combines world-class skiing (186 miles of groomed slopes and 78 ski lifts) with a picturesque mountain atmosphere and exceptional dining that includes Michelin 2-starred restaurant L’Atelier d’Edmond. This designer apartment in downtown Val d’Isère is a stellar example of the well-appointed residences on offer in the area and offers proximity to all local pleasures and ski lifts.

Characteristics: Warm rustic touches and contemporary touches combine to give the three bedroom, three bathroom apartment a modern and warm feel. A gracious entrance hall leads to a large open concept space comprising the living room, dining room and a tidy kitchen which includes a bar counter. Two private balconies extend the living space to the outside and offer breathtaking views of the mountains.

Other advantages: Organized furniture is included with the apartment making it essentially ready to move in. A private ski locker and indoor parking space are included with the property.

San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico | US $ 3.4 million

Take a tour of any corner of central San Miguel de Allende and you’re likely to find an architectural delight, whether it’s a historic church or a colonial building dating back centuries. The beautiful town includes a 64-block historic center and its collection of Baroque colonial architecture and the nearby Atotonilco Sanctuary. This historic property in the historic center exemplifies the romantic essence of the area with its bright exterior, Old World details and voluminous living spaces.

Characteristics: From chunky beams and stone pillars to tall fireplace mantels, eye-catching details abound in the seven bedroom and eight bathroom set. Formal bedrooms include a decadent red-hued dining room and a massive grand hall that can be viewed from the second floor. The dining room adjoins a large chef’s kitchen equipped to accommodate a crowd of revelers.

Other advantages: Formal gardens surround the house, creating a lush, flowery backdrop punctuated by fountains and statuaries. The grounds feature a wealth of native and tropical vegetation, including clipped hedges and tree specimens. A separate casita, rooftop terrace, and pool are among other features of note.

Granadella, Jávea, Spain | US $ 3.41 million

Located in the southernmost part of Jávea, Cala de la Granadella is appreciated for its pristine beaches and its cove near Cape Nao. The area is surrounded by high cliffs that isolate the shore. This property sits on a bluff overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters and rocky outcrops below.

Characteristics: Designed to take advantage of the surrounding landscape, the home features arched expanses of glass framed in brick that offer spectacular views of the main living room. The floor plan includes a total of five bedrooms and six bathrooms over approximately 6,641 square feet (617 square meters) of living space.

Other advantages: If a front row seat indoors isn’t your thing, an outdoor balcony with pool and spa is great for taking in the views. The view from the balcony opens directly onto the cove below and the waterfront.
